About HATENKO
A future that breaks tradition through innovation
"Hatenkō" is where tradition meets innovation. The skills of artisans who have long supported the Japanese sense of beauty meet creativity from other fields,
giving rise to a new expression of fragrance. Wear scent as you would wear culture.
features
The cap uses Kiso hinoki cypress that grew in the Edo period — equivalent to about 250 years of age.
It is then dyed using the techniques of Kaga Yūzen, the traditional craft of Ishikawa Prefecture, creating a one-of-a-kind texture and beauty.
A special print on the underside of the bottle is designed so that the "H" logo appears when viewed from directly above.
Open the box, and the bottle is gently wrapped in a single ukiyo-e print.
In old Japan, ukiyo-e prints were sometimes used as packing material when exporting ceramics overseas.
"Hatenkō" found beauty in that unexpected pairing and reinterpreted it as part of the packaging — a touch of play that honors history.
Fragrance is not only meant to be worn.
The scent of "Hatenkō" can also become part of your interior — leaving a quiet afterglow in a space.
A whisper of it on linens, cushions, or paper in your study fills your daily life with a fragrance you will remember.
Make fragrance one of the small details of everyday living.
